NULLSPARK

Dev log

What changed and why, newest first. Written by me, usually late.

Less is more (the Built-in tab is gone)

The Mods screen had a "Built-in" tab with 89 switches: zoom, keystrokes, FPS counter, that kind of thing. They needed a NULLSPARK game mod to do anything, and I'm not making one right now. So the switches switched nothing. Gone.

Zoom and shaders still work, because Zoomify and Iris are pre-installed. The home screen shows your mod count where the "features on" number used to be.

Java inside, mods for real

  • Java 25 is packed into the installer. Minecraft 26.x starts without a Java download.
  • The mod browser searches Modrinth for real: install, remove, switch off, check for updates.
  • Ten popular mods get added to a Fabric profile the first time you play it.
  • Changing a profile's version swaps every mod to its build for that version.

The installer went from 9 MB to 67 MB because of Java. Worth it.

Sign-in and PLAY stop pretending

Until this version, "Sign in with Microsoft" made up a random account and PLAY played an animation. I know. It was a UI preview. Now:

  • Sign-in goes through Microsoft's page in your browser, and the login is stored encrypted.
  • PLAY downloads the game, libraries, assets, Fabric and Java, checks every file, and starts Minecraft.
  • Your real skin shows up in 3D.

Sign-in is waiting on Mojang approving the app. Nothing I can speed up from here.

First build that installs

One .exe that installs itself, adds shortcuts and an entry in Windows Settings > Apps, and uninstalls cleanly. Rewrote it in Go the same night after the first attempt needed tools I couldn't get working.

Name, look, plan

Picked the name and the bolt-through-a-ring logo, drew every screen, and wrote down the rule I'm keeping: no cheat features, ever.
